This piece is so important, beautiful, wise, and nuanced. Thank you so much for all the work that went into it—and the act of bearing witness and listening so deeply to the beings—human and more-than-human. I wish everyone could and would read this. I will share it widely. Though it is long form journalism it is also a prophetic call to tikkun olam, mending the torn fabric of Creation, to being restorative, living in right relationship with all being.
Rachel, you might consider talking to someone about the real value of gold. It isn't scarce, the reason the price is so high is because nations horde it in their reserves. Its actual uses in industrial/jewellery/etc. is minuscule to the amount being mined.
I've seen in Ghana how the farmers have been forcibly removed for Chinese owned entities to extract gold and pollute the rivers. That was 12 years ago, 5 years before that in Mozambique how civil war had destroyed eco-systems and humans. Your work is so vital and Mother Earth needs female energy to stand up and overthrow the toxicity that exists.

We're so glad it spoke to you, Leaf <3
Yes! I so appreciate your work, Rachel, especially the integrity of how you embody what you espouse.

Interesting, I've not heard this before.
