Resisting Goliath: How to Save Your Home

In rural Colombia, a tiny community are defending their home from one of the biggest mining companies in the world. For twenty years, they blocked roads, petitioned governments and marched against the company's ploys, spurred on by the devastation exacted on neighbouring towns in the pursuit of gold. But their traditional activism couldn't keep Goliath at bay forever. To win, and protect the mountain they call home, they needed to create a radically different future. Told across two neighbouring towns in different stages of takeover, Resisting Goliath is a roadmap for citizens everywhere to defend their home from the threats of extractivism.

It's here: our first feature-length documentary! You can watch it right here (on Youtube) or you can stream it on WaterBear, an international, impact-driven streaming platform.

It was a privilege to spend time with the communities of Jerico and Tamesis last year, making life long friends at Vision Suroeste in the process, and we are honoured to broadcast their story. We hope it will be a guide to people all over the world about how to keep Goliaths at bay. Their activism is meant to be a guide for communities everywhere about how to deepen and complexify their resistance against the most powerful forces in the world. I hope you are as astounded and inspired by them as we continue to be.

This film took a huge amount of work, work I passed over to Robert so that I could focus on my book (which you can now pre-order!!) Robert was not a filmmaker when I met him, but became one at the behest of the vision I had for this project. I am in awe of what he's achieved, and I think the results speak for themselves.

Thank you to all of you who have trusted that our silence was proof of our hard work. Thank you especially to our paid subscribers who literally made it possible for Robert to dedicate himself to this film. We hope you enjoy our efforts. It certainly won't be our last.

With kindness,
Rachel
